Make wudu the Prophetic way
Performing ablution under a running tap uses around six litres of water every minute. Yet the Prophet ﷺ performed wudu using just one. See how.
About the project
Today, many of us make wudu under a running tap, using around 6 litres every minute. However, in the Sunnah, the Prophet ﷺ performs wudu using 1 mudd of water. This is approximately just 1 litre*.
With your help, we want to revive this important practice and spread the word to our brothers and sisters.
*Prophetic usage is based on hadith from Al-Tirmidhi, 56.
Reviving the Sunnah is an important project we are running in partnership with Cambridge Water.
Thank you and JazakAllahu Khairan
We invited people to take a pledge to revive this important practice and spread the word to our brothers and sisters.
We provided free water-saving devices, including an exclusive wudu ablution bottle, and offered free home water audits to help customers save thousands of litres every day and conserve our precious chalk streams.
We are no longer offering the free wudu ablution bottle and water audit but, if you would like to order some free water-saving devices, then please visit GetWaterFit.

Why is this project important?
We are working in partnership with Cambridge Water to Revive the Sunnah amongst everyone who performs wudu in Cambridge.
By doing your bit, you’ll help Cambridge Water measure how much water our brothers and sisters are saving. In turn, this will help create a blueprint to help and encourage all Muslims in the UK to make wudu in the Prophetic way, save water and Revive the Sunnah.
As we see from the hadith where the Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like one who did it.” (Sahih Muslim 1893)
